The 12th FC Bayern Dream Match - also a restart after a break due to the coronavirus pandemic - was a complete success. With 6,400 fans, the Waldstadion in Kaltern (South Tyrol) was sold out when the record champions' first team played against a regional select XI in mid-August. 50 percent of the proceeds from Harry Kane and his team-mates' 6-1 win went to FC Bayern Hilfe eV and 50 percent to a good cause in South Tyrol. Before the meeting with Heidenheim at the Allianz Arena, FC Bayern Hilfe eV chairman Karl Hopfner accepted the donation of €20,000 from Tobias Gutmorgeth (chairman of Dream Match organisers "Weinbeisser Kaltern") and his fan club colleagues Andreas Steinmann, Peter Dissertori and Manfred Andergassen.
Karl Hopfner: "We're delighted that the Dream Match could finally take place again - and that FC Bayern Hilfe eV will once again receive a portion of the profits, which we can use to help people and organisations who are in need through no fault of their own. A big thank you again and again to all members, fans and supporters of our club who make a big difference with their donations to FC Bayern Hilfe eV: As all our work is carried out on a voluntary basis, there are no additional costs. This means that all donations in their entirety go to people who need help."
The motto of the 2023 Dream Match was "South Tyrol is Red". Organisers "Weinbeisser Kaltern" were founded in 2007 and have 350 members. The event was organised with the support of the South Tyrol umbrella association: it was a bid on behalf of fans in the entire region, consisting of 39 fan clubs with a total of 6,000 members. The programme consisted of morning drinks, festivities with a band and DJ, a marquee and children's activities. The fan club thanked the market town, the tourism association and the sports clubs for their support. The Dream Match was a win-win situation for everyone.
