FC Bayern sign Australian talent Nestory Irankunda

From Down Under to Munich: FC Bayern have signed Australian attacking talent Nestory Irankunda. The 17-year-old will join on 1 July 2024 on a long-term contract at the German record champions. Irankunda turns 18 on 9 February 2024.

Jochen Sauer, director of youth development: "We've had Nestory on our radar for some time and we're pleased we've reached an agreement with him and Adelaide United on a move to Munich for next summer. We'd like to thank the United management for the good talks. Nestory is an extremely quick winger, a strong dribbler and finisher with good drive towards goal. We're convinced by his potential and that he will take the next steps with us."

Nestory Irankunda plays for the Australian under-17 team.

Irankunda is a current Australian U17 international but has already been called up for the senior team. The Tanzania-born winger has made 39 first-team appearances for Adelaide United to date, registering nine goals and two assists, and will look to add to that tally until the end of this season. "The experiences in the coming months in the A-League will certainly have a positive effect on his ongoing development," added Sauer.
