Ahead of Wednesday's Champions League meeting with FC Bayern (21:00 CET), FC Copenhagen suffered a defeat in the Danish Superliga on Saturday evening. The Danish record champions lost 2-1 away to Viborg FF after conceding in added time, having led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Mohamed Elyounoussi's 39th-minute goal. Isak Jensen equalised for Viborg six minutes after the restart, before Alassana Jatta netted the winner in the second minute of stoppage. Despite the defeat, Copenhagen are still top of the Superliga on 33 points, although closest challengers and city rivals Bröndby (30 points) could move above them with a clear victory at Lyngby BK on Sunday.
Copenhagen line-up against Viborg: Grabara - Ankersen (Sörensen 70'), Diks, Boilesen (Vavro 70'), Jelert - Lerager, Falk, Claesson (Diogo Goncalves 58') - M. Elyounoussi, Oskarsson (Cornelius 69'), Achouri (Bardghji 78')
Hopes of Champions League knockout stage
In the Champions League, Copenhagen still have hopes of progressing. After a 2-2 draw at Galatasaray in the opening group match, they suffered narrow losses against Bayern (1-2) and at Manchester United (0-1). Last time out, though, Jacob Neestrup's side claimed a vital 4-3 success in a wild encounter at home to United. The Danes are currently level on points with Galatasaray in the intriguing battle for second spot in Group A with four points, with United in fourth on three. Copenhagen therefore need a result in Munich on Wednesday to be in a good position before the final group fixture against Gala.
