17-goal Kane already ahead of last season's top scorers

In 11 games, Harry Kane has done what even the best of players require an entire season to achieve! The England captain scored his goals numbers 16 and 17 for this season during the 4-2 victory against FC Heidenheim. Not only has Kane now scored more goals than any other player in history at this early point of the season, he has already surpassed the last two Bundesliga joint top scorers Christopher Nkunku and Niclas Füllkrug after only a third of the season. Simply incredible!

Kane heads home his 17th of the season so far

“Somebody told me last season's scoring record was 16 goals. To score 17 goals at this point in time is obviously incredible. I’m proud of this great start,“ the striker said after the end of the match, but he remained humble as ever. “Of course, the team deserves all the gratitude. They provide me with the opportunities. I enjoy playing in this team. We create many chances to score,“ Kane commented and even found room for self-criticism. “I had a few more chances to score in the second half, which I failed to take. That's football.“

Freund on Kane: He’s a phenomenon

Hard-working Harry had six shots on goal, more than any other player on the pitch, but only scored with his first two attempts. Fortunately, Bayern's substitutes Raphaël Guerreiro (72') and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (85') scored the third and fourth for Bayern respectively and secured a deserved win. Only Kane's successful attempts stick in the memory of course. “He’s a phenomenon,“ commented Christoph Freund on the world-class striker. “He's functioning right from the start, he is simply a really good guy, and he has settled into the team very well. He’s very popular and he does what he likes most, scoring goals.“

The sporting director is, of course, absolutely right. Kane has netted eight goals in his last three Bundesliga games alone. Following his two hat-tricks against Darmstadt (8-0) and Dortmund (4-0), he has now scored a brace against Heidenheim and joins the ranks of FCB striking legends Gerd Müller, Robert Lewandowski, Roy Makaay and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the only other players in Bayern's club history to have scored multiple goals in three matches in succession in this competition.

Scoring record after 11 games

With such an exceptionally skilled player up front, Bayern are hurtling from one record to the next. Overall, Thomas Tuchel’s team have already scored 42 goals this season – a new record at this early point in time. Additionally, Bayern are the first team to have scored at least two goals in each of the first 11 matches of the season. Obviously, it requires more than just an in-form Harry Kane to achieve such a success, it requires in-shape providers as well. On Saturday, Leroy Sané laid on both goals for the English goal-getter. His six assists are the top tally in the Bundesliga right now.

After the Heidenheim clash, the players enter an international break

In a way, it's a shame Harry's hot spell is now being interrupted by the upcoming international break. Like most players in the record champions’ squad, the England captain will be on duty for his national team next week. In the Bundesliga, Kane and his team mates rejoin the action on 24 November, when they face FC Köln (8.30 pm) away from home, hopefully to continue their record pursuits.
