Bayern's upcoming Champions League opponents Manchester United head into Tuesday night's clash (21:00 CET) on the back of a defeat in the Premier League. The Red Devils went down to a 3-0 loss at home to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon. Dominic Solanke gave the visitors an early lead, and despite pushing for an equaliser after that, Erik ten Hag's side were not rewarded for their efforts. Instead, two goals in quick succession from Philip Billing (68th minute) and Marcos Senesi (73rd) wrapped up the win for Bournemouth.
Manchester United line-up against Bournemouth: Onana – Diogo Dalot, Maguire, Shaw (Evans 79'), Reguilon – McTominay, Amrabat – Antony (Pellistri 79'), Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho (Rashford 79') – Martial (Höjlund 56')
Win required in Champions League
In order to stay in European competition beyond the winter, United must win their home match against the German record champions on Tuesday night. However, if there's a winner in the other fixture between FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray, three points for the English giants would only be enough for third place in the group, meaning relegation to the Europa League. If Bayern triumph at Old Trafford, it would be the first time since 2005/06 that United have finished bottom of the group in Europe's premier club competition.
