FC Bayern mourns Klaus Wunder, who has died at the age of 73. The former player made 43 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern, scoring seven goals.
Herbert Hainer, FC Bayern president: "FC Bayern is united in grief with the family and friends of Klaus Wunder. He was an excellent player who won the European Cup with FC Bayern in 1975, as well as a great person, who always gave everything for the fans. Our club will never forget the 'Caesar' of football."
Wunder moved to Munich from MSV Duisburg ahead of the 1974/75 season and stayed until the winter break of the 1975/76 campaign. His greatest success was the triumph in the 1975 European Cup, when he came on for Uli Hoeneß in the 42nd minute of the 2-0 win against Leeds United in the final in Paris. As well as Hoeneß, he also played with the likes of Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Sepp Maier and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge during his spell with the German record champions. The Erfurt-born forward, who won one senior cap for Germany and was mostly used as a left winger, also represented Duisburg, Hannover 96 and SV Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
