Minjae Kim with draw to end Asian Cup group stage

It was a crazy ending to the group stage for Minjae Kim at the Asian Cup. South Korea drew 3-3 against Malaysia in the final round of group matches, with the Bayern centre-back playing the full 90 minutes. In a thrilling encounter, former Bayern player Woo-yeong Jeong put the favourites in front (27th minute), before the underdogs turned the game around after the break courtesy of goals from Faisal Halim (51') and Arif Aiman (62' penalty). The South Koreans responded in the closing stages with an own goal by goalkeeper Syihan Hazmi (83') and a penalty from Heung-min Son (90'+4), but Malaysia had the final word in the form of substitute Romel Morales, who scored to make it 3-3 in the 15th minute of stoppage time.

South Korea were already sure of their place in the knockout stages before kick-off and now go through to the round of 16 as group runners-up. Awaiting Jürgen Klinsmann's side on Tuesday (17:00 CET) are the winners of Group F, who will either be Saudi Arabia or Thailand.
