Bienvenido, Bryan Zaragoza! The 22-year-old joins FC Bayern from Granada CF. We’ve taken a closer look at the Spanish attacker.
Influential in Granada’s top-flight return
Zaragoza was born on 9 September 2001 in Malaga, Spain. At the age of 18, the 1.64-metre-tall forward left youth club Conejito de Malaga to join Granada’s academy. A loan to third-tier Ejido in 2020/21 saw him take his first steps at senior level. Following his return to Granada, Zaragoza played mostly for the club’s reserves before establishing himself in the senior team in 2022/23 following relegation to the second division. Starting the campaign mostly as a substitute, the attacker soon made his mark and scored three goals in the final three games to ensure an immediate top-flight return for Los Nazaríes.
Excellent performances this season
Zaragoza has caught the eye this season with some impressive displays in Spain’s La Liga. The 22-year-old has featured in 21 of Granada’s 22 league fixtures, only missing one through suspension. He has started 18 of those and scored six goals, including a brace in the 2-2 draw with Barcelona. The attacker has also provided two assists, meaning he has the most goal contributions for the Andalusians this term. He was named La Liga’s U23 Player of the Month in October and called up to the senior national team for the first time, making his debut in the 2-0 win over Scotland in UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying on 12 October.

Explosive, versatile dribbler
Zaragoza can play anywhere across the front line, meaning he has been used this season in his preferred position on the left wing but also at centre-forward and as a number 10. The 22-year-old’s explosive runs and dribbling in recent weeks and months have left countless defenders standing. That's demonstrated by moments such as his dribble past Barcelona defender Jules Kounde for his second goal of that game, as well as by the statistics: Zaragoza is currently second in La Liga for successful dribbles this season with 53.
“Bryan is an explosive, very quick and extremely nimble winger, who can play on either side. He’s unpredictable, can score and is very good one-v-one,” said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.
