FC Bayern has applied to the City of Munich for a review of key points for approval to build a new performance centre on the club's premises at Säbener Straße.
Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern CEO: “Säbener Straße has been the home of FC Bayern for 75 years, and we want to stay here for the long term. However, it is necessary for us to further develop the sporting infrastructure for our professional players in order to continue to meet the highest national and international standards in the future. A new performance centre is therefore a key element in ensuring that FC Bayern can continue to attract international players and remain competitive at the very highest level. It goes without saying that the neighbourhood and political decision-makers will be transparently informed and involved in every step of the planning process.”
An analysis of the location and usage by the club has showed that all the necessary uses for an adequate and sustainable infrastructure could be accommodated in a new performance centre on the site. FC Bayern has been training at Säbener Straße since 1949. An office was built in 1970 and since then the site has been repeatedly adapted to meet new requirements. Extensive remodelling work was carried out in 1979, at the end of the 1980s and in 2008. Since the junior section and FC Bayern Women moved to the new FC Bayern Campus in summer 2017, Säbener Straße has been home to the club’s two men's teams.
