Mathys Tel has been named in France’s preliminary squad for this summer’s 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which coach Thierry Henry announced on Monday morning.
Three pre-tournament friendlies
The 25-man squad will meet up on 16 June as they prepare for the tournament on home soil. Squads for the Olympics are restricted to U23 players, with a maximum of three overage players. The hosts will play three warm-up matches ahead of the Games, starting against Paraguay in Bayonne on 4 July (9.15pm CEST). They then take on the Dominican Republic on 11 July (9.05pm) and Japan on 17 July (9.05pm), both in Toulon. France kick off their quest for Olympic gold in Group A against the USA in Marseille on 24 July (9pm) before taking on Guinea in Nice (27 July, 9pm) and New Zealand in Marseille (30 July, 7pm).
