Markus Weinzierl has been appointed the new director of sport at the FC Bayern Campus. The long-serving Bundesliga coach (Jahn Regensburg, FC Augsburg, FC Schalke, VfB Stuttgart, 1. FC Nürnberg) succeeds Halil Altintop, who is leaving the German record champions at his own request. It marks a return for the Straubing-born 49-year-old after making 114 competitive appearances for the FC Bayern reserves as a player, during which he scored 11 goals. He also played in 49 Bundesliga 2 matches for SpVgg Unterhaching and Stuttgarter Kickers, among others. Halil Altintop joined the FC Bayern Campus in 2020, initially as a youth coach before taking over as director of sport last year. The former professional footballer will take his leave at the end of August following a handover period.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Halil Altintop, whom we wish all the best for the future."

FC Bayern Campus director of sport Markus Weinzierl: "I am very much looking forward to my new role and to returning to the FC Bayern youth development centre after 25 years. I want to pass on my experience and will do everything I can to ensure that the successful work at the FC Bayern Campus continues."
Halil Altintop: "I would like to thank FC Bayern for the successful time we spent together - and for the opportunities I was given at the FC Bayern Campus. We were able to help several players make the transition to the first team and constantly develop the youth setup.
