Thank you, Nous! After two years and a total of 55 competitive appearances in an FC Bayern jersey, Noussair Mazraoui is leaving Munich to join Manchester United. The Moroccan full-back celebrated victories and trophies, and enriched Bayern's game with his strong tackling and attacking drive. As he bids farewell, fcbayern.com looks back on some special moments for our number 40.
30 July 2022: First game, first trophy
Sometimes it just happens so fast. When Mazraoui signed for FC Bayern in May 2022, he stated that he wanted to win titles. And exactly 67 days after his move to the German record champions was announced, he was lifting his first trophy, when Bayern won the DFL Supercup with a 5-3 win over RB Leipzig. Mazraoui made his debut for the men from Munich that evening, coming off the bench in the closing stages of the game.
13 May 2023: In true striker fashion
Scoring goals is not one of a full-back's main tasks, so it's all the more satisfying when a defender does it. Mazraoui also celebrated exuberantly in front of the Südkurve when he scored his first goal in an FCB jersey on Matchday 32 of the 2022/23 season. The home game against Schalke 04 (6-0) was already deep into stoppage time when Benjamin Pavard played a long, low pass through the centre to Sadio Mané. The Senegal star took one touch and laid the ball off to the onrushing Mazraoui. The Morocco international clinically slotted the ball past keeper Alexander Schwolow and into the near corner, scoring Bayern's sixth goal of the afternoon.
27 May 2023: Ecstasy in Cologne
Just two weeks later, Mazraoui played arguably the most important match of his spell at Bayern. The encounter at Köln (2-1) on the final matchday of the 2022/23 season was one for the German record champions' history books. Jamal Musiala scored just before the final whistle to secure the Reds' 11th consecutive league title. Mazraoui ultimately also played a big part in FCB lifting the trophy: in Cologne, he started at left-back and played until the 85th minute before being substituted for the man who scored the winner.
30 April and 8 May 2024: Fierce battles against Los Blancos
The sporting highlight on the European stage during Mazraoui's time at Bayern was the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid last season (first leg: 2-2, second leg: 1-2). The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes in both games and helped to contain the Whites' Brazilian wingers Vinícius Junior and Rodrigo as well as possible. Time and again, Mazraoui demonstrated his strong tackling skills and defensive robustness in the challenges. Even if the Reds' performance ultimately went unrewarded, the defender and his team-mates fought out two close encounters with Los Blancos.
