Sané's first game with captain's armband, Nübel excels

The German national team wrapped up the Nations League group stage with a draw, comfortably winning Group 3 in League A with 14 points. In the 1-1 stalemate against Hungary in Budapest, Dortmund's Felix Nmecha (76th minute) gave head coach Julian Nagelsmann's side a well-deserved lead, but Dominik Szoboszlai equalised from the spot following a handball (90'+9) in the dying seconds.

Joshua Kimmich led the team out as captain, with Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané also in the starting XI. After Kimmich was given a well-earned break at half-time and took his place on the bench, Sané was handed the captain's armband for the first time. His teammate Jamal Musiala came off the bench for Gnabry on 61 minutes. Between the posts, FC Bayern loanee Alexander Nübel impressively thwarted several great chances for the Hungarians with the score at 0-0, before the German side deservedly took the lead in the second half. However, the last-minute equaliser ultimately denied them an away win.

Germany's next game is a Nations League quarter-final first leg on 20 March 2025. Their opponents will be revealed in the draw on Friday at 13:00 CET in Nyon.

The South Korean national team featuring Bayern defender Minjae Kim were held to a 1-1 draw against Palestine at the Amman International Stadium in a World Cup qualifier in Asia. The German record champions' 28-year-old defender played the whole 90 minutes for head coach Myung-Bo Hong's side, but was unable to prevent the hosts from taking a 1-0 lead through Zaid Qunbar on 12 minutes. Just four minutes later, however, Tottenham Hotspur's Heung-Min Son equalised following some impressive link-up play with Mainz's Jae-Sung Lee. However, an impressive defensive performance meant the Palestinians were able to hold on for the draw. South Korea remain top of World Cup qualifying Group B despite dropping the two points.

The France and Germany U21s shared the spoils with a 2-2 (0-1) draw in Valenciennes in what was an entertaining friendly. Dortmund's Maximilian Beier (5'/50') twice fired the German youngsters in front, but a penalty from Bayern striker Mathys Tel (63') and a strike from Lazio's Loum Tchaouna (90'+3) levelled the score for the Équipe Tricolore. Tel started the game in the France front line and was substituted on 78 minutes.

German U20s win with Ibrahimović in the starting XI

FC Bayern striker Arijon Ibrahimović played the full 90 minutes in the Germany U20s' final game of the year and helped secure a 2-0 away win over Turkey's youngsters in Istanbul. Hannes Wolf's side got back to winning ways four days after the 4-0 defeat to England and wrapped up the victory at the TFF Riva Facility with a brace from Köln's Damion Downs (45'/61'). Ibrahimović was joined in the starting XI by Maurice Krattenmacher, who is currently on loan from FC Bayern at SSV Ulm.
