Michael Diederich, FC Bayern deputy CEO, has been appointed to the executive committee of the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) following Thursday’s general assembly, replacing Jan-Christian Dreesen in the nine-member board following the decision of the FC Bayern CEO to announce his departure in November.
Michael Diederich, FC Bayern München AG deputy CEO: “I am delighted to have been elected to the DFL executive committee today by the assembly of the 18 Bundesliga clubs and to have received the trust that goes with it. I will now work together with my colleagues on the executive committee and all club representatives to ensure that the Bundesliga remains what it has always been: one of the best leagues in the world. Like Jan-Christian Dreesen and all my predecessors from FC Bayern on the DFL executive committee, it is also important to me that FC Bayern plays a leading role in all key issues and actively helps to shape the future of German professional football.”
Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern CEO: “Michael Diederich is a very good choice for the DFL executive committee. He will represent FC Bayern's perspective in the best possible way and make good decisions for the future of German professional football together with the committee. I will fully support him with my experience from many years on the executive committee and would like to give thanks for the many years of trustful cooperation on this committee.”
In addition to Diederich, the executive committee consists of Hans-Joachim Watzke (Borussia Dortmund, speaker), Oliver Leki (Freiburg, first deputy speaker), Steffen Schneekloth (Holstein Kiel, second deputy speaker), Oke Göttlich (St. Pauli), Axel Hellmann (Eintracht Frankfurt), Marc Lenz (DFL GmbH co-CEO), Steffen Merkel (DFL GmbH co-CEO) and Holger Schwiewagner (Greuther Fürth).
