FC Bayern München eV: results and records presented at this year’s AGM

First vice president Prof Dr Dieter Mayer and second vice president Walter Mennekes announced the figures and records at the 2024 Annual General Meeting.

Mayer announced the revenue and expenses of the eV in 2023/24. The revenue amounted to a total of €16,315,017 (2022/23: €15,038,314), with membership fees accounting for the largest share. Outgoings amounted to €18,840,768. Expenses for the sporting operation accounted for the largest share, €7,569,523. The overall result of FC Bayern München eV is €-2,525,751.

However, the commercial operations more than made up for this loss. The revenue amounted to €12,626,418 in 2023/24, with the dividend from the investment in FC Bayern München AG accounting for the largest share at €6,750,000. Due to the expenses in commercial operations of €5,454,344 in 2023/24, this sector ended up with a surplus of €+7,172,073.

These numbers are a reason to celebrate. Our equity capital has risen and the equity ratio is outstanding.

Vice president Mayer announced a surplus of €4,646,322, with an equity capital of €142,828 and an equity ratio of 99 percent. "These numbers are a reason to celebrate. Our equity capital has risen and the equity ratio is outstanding," said Mayer.

The considerable increase in members despite higher living costs is remarkable, according to Mayer, who concluded his speech by saying: "We're on the ball for our club around the clock. But you, dear members, are the heart of our club."

Mennekes on the FC Bayern family

Second vice president Walter Mennekes began his speech with a club motto: "We bring people together, we promote commitment, we create solidarity. We want to be approachable for people in the city, we want to move them, facilitate commitment and live up to our social responsibilities." The focus is on the club's values, for example the club initiative "Red against Racism", in the context of which the club has established partnerships with schools – schools with courage. "We want to take responsibility together, as a family."

We are there for one another and take care of one another in the FC Bayern family, according to Mennekes. The club wants to continue to develop its child protection initiative. With "Red Line - protecting and empowering children", FC Bayern has published a revised version.

Seven sections

Diversity is lived in families, said Mennekes, mentioning the seven sections demonstrating diversity. "We have about 2,300 athletes from eight months to 94 years. They're at home here."

The European handball championship staged in Germany, including Munich, in 2024 resulted in an increase in membership, especially in the youth sector. Mennekes: "We now have 19 teams across Bavaria in the youth sector alone."

Ivan Kharchenkov recently boosted basketball and FC Bayern. The 18-year-old has made it to the senior Basketball squad and won the European championship with the Germany U-18s, scoring a whopping 18 points in the final. The U-14 Basketballers did not lose a single match last season, winning the German championship title. The over-40 seniors achieved the same feat in a thrilling final. "Congratulations to everyone", Mennekes said on Sunday.

"Our sports skittles players have been at home at the Säbener Straße for 41 years, and they're more successful than ever," said Mennekes. They play in Germany's third league.

The FC Bayern chess department has seen "the biggest growth ever", according to Mennekes. The FC Bayern referees officiated more than 1,800 matches, not only in Bavaria, but across the globe. 13 FCB referees were in charge in the US Cup in Minnesota.

13 titles are testament to the veterans' football section's very successful work. Mennekes: "Last year was hard to match, but you brought more than every second title to Munich. Warm congratulations to everyone involved and especially the over-50 team on the German championship title."

Mennekes went on to praise the table tennis section for "the most successful season in their 75-year history". The women's U-19, the men's U-15 and player Emilia all won the German championship title.

The second vice president concluded: "We're so many, and we're more successful than ever – in many disciplines. We're FC Bayern and we're a family." Like Mayer, he thanked the eV led by Benny Folkmann and his committee colleagues Herbert Hainer and Prof Dr Dieter Mayer.
