Ahead of Bayern’s Bundesliga game at home to Holstein Kiel, fans inside the Allianz Arena produced a tifo to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day. The display in the Südkurve showed the faces of club members who had been persecuted and the phrase “In memory of persecuted FC Bayern members. Never again is now!”
The two teams also came together before kick-off to produce a joint statement as part of German football’s remembrance matchdays to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day on 27 January with the message of “Never again is now!” in reference to the crimes of National Socialism and the need to end all forms of discrimination and exclusion. The squads held up a banner with their combined message and there was also a minute’s silence for victims of Nazi terror.
