A special present! To mark its 125th anniversary, FC Bayern has been given a new stadium anthem. Club Nr. 12, the fans' association and the Südkurve groups planned and organised the entire project on their own initiative.
The new stadium anthem is based on the fan chant "Forever forward FC Bayern - champions of Germany, pride of Munich. We want to celebrate in every stadium, we the fans of FCB. As we have for over 100 years, we will until we die: Our club, FC Bayern, in the colours of white and red".
The new anthem, which was sung by 8,000 fans in the Südkurve of the Allianz Arena with star tenor Jonas Kaufmann after the Bundesliga home game against Heidenheim will in future be played as the last song before the teams walk onto the pitch at FC Bayern home matches. It's hoped this special ritual created by the fans will create spine-tingling moments and get all of the record champions' fans involved and taking part.
"This project shows what is possible when an idea encounters passion and is backed by a fully committed community. The anthem belongs to all of us. It's the echo of our love for FC Bayern and a sign of our commitment to the club's unique 125-year history," reads a joint statement from the FCB supporters involved in the creation of the anthem. The result will be heard for the first time at the Allianz Arena in the home match against VfL Bochum on 8 March.
