Mathys Tel beats Manchester United, Bryan Zaragoza with draw against Real Madrid

Mathys Tel: 90 minutes in win over United

Tel joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan during the winter window and played the whole 90 minutes of their 1-0 win at home to Manchester United on Sunday, with James Maddison scoring the decisive goal. The 19-year-old Frenchman had seven attempts on goal and set up another effort for a teammate against the Red Devils. He also completed 76 percent of his passes.

The victory took Ange Postecoglu’s side onto 30 points and up to 12th in the Premier League, before they visit promoted Ipswich Town next week. Tel has one goal in his three appearances so far in North London.

Bryan Zaragoza: Draw against Real

Zaragoza claimed a famous result with Osasuna as they held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw. Kylian Mbappe had put the European champions ahead before Ante Budimir got one back and a point for the hosts with a second-half penalty. Bryan started for Vicente Moreno’s side, having 34 touches, setting up a shot and completing 86 percent of his passes during his 78 minutes on the pitch. It was only the winger’s fourth appearance since breaking his metatarsal in December. The Bayern loanee has so far played 19 games during his spell back in Spain, scoring once and providing five assists.

After providing two assists in his previous two games for Grasshoppers in Switzerland, Nestory Irankunda was again involved at the business end against Servette. The 19-year-old had a header come back off the bar and a thumping left-footed effort that was pushed away by goalkeeper Joel Mall. The Australian then earned a penalty that was converted by William Ndenge. Irankunda went off after 80 minutes as the visitors hit back late on to end Grasshoppers’ run of five games without defeat. Centre-back Grayson Dettoni, who’s also on loan at the Zurich club, didn’t feature.

Maximilian Hennig: Important win over Saarbrücken

Maximilian Henning started as Unterhaching ended their run of 19 league games without a win by beating third-placed Saarbrücken 2-0 in the 3. Liga. The 2023 U17 World Cup winner, who’s been on loan at the Munich club since the summer, made his 16th appearance for Heiko Herrlich’s side in the league. The 19-year-old has two assists so far. Despite the result, Haching remain bottom of the table and nine points shy of safety. They next visit Erzgebirge Aue before hosting Hansa Rostock.

Benedikt Wimmer: A point against Düsseldorf’s reserves

Benedikt Wimmer played the full 90 minutes as Wuppertal battled to a 1-1 draw at home to Fortuna Düsseldorf’s reserves in the Regionalliga on Saturday. It was the 20-year-old centre-back’s 11th league outing of his season-long loan spell. Fortuna went ahead after six minutes through Marius Zentler, before Kevin Hagemann levelled for the hosts prior to the break. The result leaves Wuppertal in 13th place, five points above the drop zone. Wimmer and his team visit Fortuna Köln this Friday.
