Taichi Fukui leaves Bayern for Arouca

Taichi Fukui is leaving FC Bayern to join Arouca on a permanent deal. The 20-year-old Japanese midfielder has been on loan at the Portuguese club since the summer and established himself as a first-team regular, making 17 appearances so far this season.

Jochen Sauer, director of youth development and the Campus: “We brought Taichi to the Campus as a promising young player and gave him the chance to come to European football. He made a good showing of himself during his first loan at Portimonense. He’s now making a permanent move to a team in the top division. We’re pleased with his very positive development and wish him success for the future.”

Fukui joined Bayern’s reserves from Sakan Tosu in January 2023. After 27 appearances in the Regionalliga and his senior debut in the DFB Cup against Preußen Münster, he went out on loan to Portimonense in Portugal. The Japanese youngster then joined Arouca on loan last summer and will now make a permanent move to the Portuguese club. Fukui’s contract at Bayern was set to run until June 2026.
