Book of condolence for Fritz Scherer at FC Bayern Museum

Legends from all over the world playing at the Beckenbauer Cup at the SAP Garden and the FC Bayern Women in their Champions League match against Lyon all wore black armbands, and now fans at the FC Bayern Museum in the Allianz Arena will have the opportunity to sign the club’s book of condolence to say goodbye to Dr Fritz Scherer. The book will be on display in front of the replica of the board room up to and including the home game against St. Pauli on 29 March.

The long-serving president, former vice-president, former treasurer and honorary vice-president passed away at the age of 85. Scherer had been a Bayern member since 1 July 1971 and his last membership number was 418. In total, he was involved in various club management committees for over 30 years. President Herbert Hainer said: “Fritz Scherer was loyal to the club for decades, and it was with him as president that the club's central course was set. He was an architect of today's Bayern.” Honorary president Uli Hoeneß added: “Fritz Scherer always did Bayern good with his calmness, objectivity and expertise. With him as president, our club entered new spheres, and he always remained a loyal companion of Bayern.” Long-time CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who served as vice-chairman together with Scherer in the early 1990s, also stated: “Fritz Scherer loved and lived Bayern. Many of Bayern's milestones are closely linked to the name Fritz Scherer.”
