In FC Bayern’s 125th year, the club has donated €125,000 together with adidas to the Kurt Landauer Foundation towards the creation of the Franz Beckenbauer statue outside the Allianz Arena. The money came from a campaign between Bayern and adidas through the club’s Online Store.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and adidas counterpart Björn Gulden presented Christian Kröll and Evi Gulden of the Kurt Landauer Foundation with a cheque for the donation ahead of Bayern’s opening Bundesliga game of the season against RB Leipzig.
The memorial statue of the Kaiser will be erected on the esplanade up to the Allianz Arena alongside his longtime companion and fellow legend Gerd Müller. Back in May, the area in front of the club’s home ground was officially renamed Franz-Beckenbauer-Platz 5.
