European Club Association (ECA) renamed European Football Clubs (EFC)

European Club Association (ECA) has been renamed European Football Clubs (EFC). This was announced at the organisation's General Assembly in Rome on Tuesday evening. Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of FC Bayern, is taking part in the meeting as Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board. The renaming incorporates football into the organisation's name and clarifies its mission to represent, promote and protect the interests of all member clubs.

The club body was formed in 2008 with 137 members and now comprises around 800 European football clubs from over 55 countries. As one of the founding members, FC Bayern is heavily involved in the organisation and has always been represented on the board in recent years. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, long-time CEO and current supervisory board chairman of FC Bayern, was the founding father of the association and was its first Chairman from 2008 until 2017. He still acts as Honorary Chairman today. Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at FC Bayern, is also involved in the organisation as an ambassador.
