The FC Bayern Campus was the setting of an international football festival as eight U19 teams from across the world battled it out in Munich in the first Red&Gold Global Trophy.
Eight sides from seven different countries and three different continents took part: Racing Montevideo (Uruguay), SD Aucas (Ecuador), Gambinos Stars Africa (Gambia), Aalborg BK (Denmark), Grasshopper Club Zurich (Switzerland), Queens Park Rangers FC (England) as well as the FC Bayern U19s and FC Bayern Global Academy.

The tournament reached a dramatic climax in the final. After Grasshopper Club got into trouble early with a red card and a goal down, the Swiss representatives managed to equalise just before half-time. It finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, meaning the winner had to be determined by a penalty shootout. After no fewer than 27 spot-kicks, Racing Montevideo crowned their battling and entertaining performance at the tournament with a narrow victory.

More than 50 scouts from renowned clubs were also in attendance at this intimate and high-quality event to discover promising talents – which gave the tournament an added international significance. Jochen Sauer, director of youth development at FC Bayern and managing director of Red&Gold Football, summarised the atmosphere: “It was really fun to watch. Without much time to settle in, all the teams gave it their all, which allowed us to get an impression of the individual players.”
