FC Bayern donates €100,000 to homeless project

As was the case last year at the Beckenbauer Cup, when the Kaiser's foundation was honoured, FC Bayern also made a donation to charity as part of the Legends Cup. Before the presentation ceremony at SAP Garden, president Herbert Hainer presented a cheque for €100,000 on behalf of the club. The money will go to the ‘Haus an der Pilgersheimer Straße’, which has been a central contact point for homeless people in Munich for decades. “FC Bayern Hilfe eV also regularly supports projects that help people in need in Munich and elsewhere,” explained Hainer in front of the sellout crowd of 11,000 spectators. “That is why our club chose this institution this year. As FC Bayern, we want to make a sustainable and lasting contribution to the social fabric in our home region.”

The ‘Haus an der Pilgersheimerstraße’ opened in 1952 and was expanded in 1972 to include a social counselling service. With the launch of the general medical practice in 1987, which was expanded in 2004 to include specialist psychiatric care, homeless people have also been able to receive medical care since then. Since this year, the Munich ‘Zahnmobil’ (mobile dental clinic) has added mobile care to the range of services on offer. The facility can accommodate 179 people and is also equipped for disabled access. Consultations are offered to develop a joint assistance plan. The costs are covered by the city's social services department, and every donation helps to provide homeless people with the necessities and ensure dignified care.

The Legends Cup “brought generations together”, said Hainer, referring to the many families in the stands at SAP Garden, which was sold out again this year. “FC Bayern wants to connect people and raise awareness that we all have a social responsibility,” added the club president. The money comes from the proceeds of the Legends Cup, which FC Bayern AG donates to the organisation. In addition, the German record champions dedicate themselves to helping people in need throughout the year through donations from their fans via FC Bayern Hilfe eV. Because FC Bayern Hilfe eV, led by its board of former president Karl Hopfner, honorary president Uli Hoeneß and long-standing CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, does not require an administrative apparatus, every cent goes directly to those in need.
