Just like the 2-0 victory in the DFB Cup quarter-final against RB Leipzig in February, FC Bayern’s home match against Atalanta tomorrow will be affected by another Verdi strike. The Munich Transport Company (MVG) is once again organising a special service for the Champions League round of 16 second leg, and the usual bus shuttle service will also be expanded this time. These measures proved effective in February as 75,000 fans watched the cup match at the sold-out Allianz Arena.
MVG plans to operate the U3/U6 underground lines in sections, with priority given to the route between the city centre and the Allianz Arena. As was the case during the cup match in February, underground trains between Marienplatz and Fröttmaning will run at frequent intervals until the end of service – and the stations in between will once again be open for boarding. In addition, the decision to increase the frequency of the usual bus shuttle service from the Donnersberger Brücke S-Bahn station proved to be effective. This service will again run to the Kieferngarten station and, if necessary, directly to Karlsplatz (Stachus) after the game. Furthermore, additional shuttle buses will again be operated from the parking lot of the FC Bayern Campus, located just two kilometers from the Allianz Arena.
Despite all these efforts, restrictions are once again expected during travel to and from the stadium. FC Bayern is therefore appealing to all fans once again to allow extra time and, if possible, to carpool when traveling by car. The Allianz Arena will open from 18:45 CET on Wednesday and, as in February, will remain open longer. Kick-off is at 21:00 CET.
All the latest information on the public transport situation is available at mvg.de and in the MVGO app. The strike affects the underground and tram networks as well as all bus lines up to number 199 in Munich.
