Reaction to FC Bayern v Köln – Leon Goretzka: 'I'm just proud of it'
German champions FCB! FC Bayern rounded off an exceptional Bundesliga campaign with a 5-1 victory over FC Köln. “It was a great conclusion to the Bundesliga campaign. Another really good display with a lot of goals. Now we just have to enjoy the celebrations because the season is long and tough,” said three-goal Harry Kane after the final whistle. Bayern were presented with the Meisterschale after the match. “It feels wonderful to me because we deserved to win the title. I think we were dominant in the league from the start, so this championship title is just as special as the first one,” commented captain Manuel Neuer. Leon Goretzka, who was given a send-off after eight successful years at the club, said: “The special moment for me was when I was with the south stand, spoke to the fans and they gave me words of encouragement. That showed me I was and still am part of this family. I’m just proud of it.” fcbayern.com rounds up all the reaction .
Reaction to FC Bayern v FC Köln
Board member for sport Max Eberl: “It’s pure emotion. We’re absolutely delighted with an outstanding season. We scored 122 goals in 34 matches. Winning the title feels fantastic, we’ve got a great team spirit. We’ll celebrate it a bit as one big Bayern family, we’ll enjoy it. We worked for this all year. Then we’ll have enough time to prepare for a great cup final. Leon Goretzka is a great personality at FC Bayern, he achieved fantastic things and won many titles over eight years. We’re very grateful Leon has been with us.”

Vincent Kompany: “I know I’m not faster than my players any more. I was prepared for the beer shower. It was important to stick to our play and display our energy on the pitch today. If so, we’re usually able to win. That was important today. We turned in a good first-half display. We had to suffer a bit after the break but bounced back. That’s what marks out this team. We have to enjoy it now, we feel we’re in really good form and that the cup final comes at the right time. It’s a final, we want to play with complete conviction. We’re looking forward to going there, we absolutely want to win.”
Manuel Neuer: “We can celebrate today in style, given the result and the way we played. We also said goodbye to Nicolas Jackson, Rapha Guerreiro und Leon Goretzka – all of them are deserving players. So it’s all the more wonderful we’ve turned in a good display on such a day with the championship celebrations. The 13th title is still special of course. It feels wonderful to me because we deserved to win the title. I think we were dominant in the league from the start, so this championship title is just as special as the first one. I felt something in my calf and didn’t want to take any risks with regard to next week.”

Harry Kane: "It was a great conclusion to the Bundesliga campaign. Another really good display with a lot of goals. Now we just have to enjoy the celebrations because the season is long and tough. Finishing like this is the perfect way to do it of course. A lot of things come together for us, that’s what marks us out as a team. We always want to attack, press high up the pitch, win the ball back quickly and score as many goals as possible. That’s down to our mentality and the way we train. No matter the opponents or the situation, we always want to play the same way, and we showed that again today.”
Leon Goretzka: “The special moment for me was when I was with the south stand, spoke to the fans and they gave me words of encouragement. That showed me I was and still am part of this family. I’m just proud of it.”

Michael Olise: “I’ve really enjoyed this season. We’ve played very well, everyone’s working hard, we all have the same goal. It’s a lot of fun to play in such a team.”
Tom Bischof: “I’d love to go completely wild. I just said it: ‘Give me the trophy right now!’ It feels incredible. I’ve come here to win titles, and I’m incredibly happy. We never stop. We were 5-1 up when Michael told me: ‘Hey, quick, we need the ball.’ This will to keep scoring more goals and winning more games is one of our incredible strengths. It’s a shame we didn’t make it to the Champions League final. But this team spirit really helps us to stick together. Now I’m looking forward to celebrating with the lads today.”
Reaction from FC Köln
Marius Bülter: “Bayern are just too strong, we saw that today. We struggled in the first 20 minutes in particular. We did better in the 15 minutes before and the 20 minutes after the break – perhaps also because Bayern weren’t quite as resolute then. But generally speaking, there can’t be many things that point to a good display if you lose 5-1.”
Florian Kainz: “Congratulations to Bayern – they’ve had an outstanding season. We can only congratulate them, how they’ve played throughout the season is truly remarkable. Still, it’s bitter for me personally and for us as 1. FC Köln to end the season like this. Of course our goal was to stay in the league, we’ve achieved that. But the last two games didn’t go according to plan.”
