From headphones to the stands – the special TEENS CLUB workshop ‘The Sound of FC Bayern’ was literally filled with music: At the FCB women’s Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, 30 young people were invited exclusively by FC Bayern to explore the power and values behind the music that booms from the speakers at matches in the Allianz Arena. Lena Oberdorf dropped by as the young FCB members engaged in lively discussion and compiled their very own playlist. The workshop turned into a very personal soundcheck, an opportunity to listen to one’s inner self, and the Germany international offered some valuable advice. “Sometimes, in difficult times, it helps to let it all out – there’s nothing wrong with that,” she said, “I assure you: the world is your oyster; you can achieve anything.”

Music also plays an important role in her life and serves as a source of support when she needs the strength to tackle new challenges, Oberdorf explained. She even played the guitar herself for ten years; now she has a DJ mixing desk at home. She also contributed a song to the TEENS CLUB playlist: 'Buenos Términos' by Rauw Alejandro – she's immortalised the lyrics in a tattoo on her arm, as she showed the young people. Workshop participant Simon was, like everyone else, thrilled by the afternoon, which had begun with a meet-up at the Gerd Müller statue in front of the Allianz Arena: “For me, music in the stadium means freedom, letting all my feelings out, and emotions,” he said, perfectly summing up the spirit of the event.
The aim of the workshop was to "link two key themes", explained Kiki Hasenpusch, deputy managing director of FC Bayern: “The involvement of our young members, who are the future of the club – and the values embodied by FC Bayern, including in music.” Among other things, following an introduction by Janine Ongyerth from the membership department, who is responsible for the TEENS CLUB, the young people were invited to listen to audio samples in Eventbox 1 at the Allianz Arena and pick green, yellow or red cards, depending on whether the lyrics aligned with the club’s values. When asked what values the teenagers associate with FC Bayern, the top five were togetherness, family, respect, tradition and pride. “It’s important to convey to young people what FC Bayern stands for – and through music you quickly find a receptive ear, in the truest sense of the word,” explained Hasenpusch.
Before everyone gathered in the stands to watch the FC Bayern women’s match, Oberdorf took time out to sign autographs and pose for selfies and a group photo. She also recorded a message via the 'TEENS CLUB Community' on WhatsApp for all the young FCB fans who were unable to attend the event. As always at TEENS CLUB events, many of the girls and boys swapped contact details as friendships had formed. Music is like sport – both bring people together. And together, you find a common rhythm.
