FC Bayern is part of the new initiative ‘Justice and Sport – Standing Firm Against Hate Crimes’, which has been launched by the Bavarian State Office for New Media (BLM) and the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice. The aim of this pilot project is to work with Bavarian sports clubs and associations to take a firm stand against hate crimes in sport – with a particular focus on the digital sphere.
To mark the “International Day for Combating Hate Speech”, the organisers are sending a clear message against hate speech, intolerance and discrimination. Athletes and sports clubs are increasingly confronted with offensive and discriminatory comments, particularly online and on social media platforms. In many cases, these comments are crossing the line into criminal behaviour.
With the launch of the initiative, targeted measures are being developed to support clubs and associations in tackling online hatred. Alongside FC Bayern, the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV) is also taking part in the pilot project. FC Bayern stands for respectful and fair interaction – on and off the pitch, online and offline.
