To kick off the 2026/27 DFB Cup competition, holders FC Bayern travel to Bundesliga 2 newcomers VfL Osnabrück. That was the outcome of the draw on Saturday at the German Football Museum in Dortmund, where Deniz Aytekin, who ended his refereeing career at the end of the season, drew out the teams. This will be the fourth clash between the two clubs in the DFB Cup. Bayern and Osnabrück last met in the second round of the DFB Cup in 2004/05 when FCB secured a narrow 3-2 victory.

As participants in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup (22 August), the double winners from Munich and runners-up Borussia Dortmund will not play their first round matches until 1-2 September. The other matches will be played between 21 and 24 August.
