FC Bayern and 1. FC Nürnberg have extended the loan of midfielder Javier Fernández by one year. The 19-year-old Spaniard has been playing for the Franconian Bundesliga 2 side since January 2026, making eight appearances (five as a starter) under head coach Miroslav Klose in the second part of the season.
FC Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund: “Javi has taken a good development despite a few setbacks and gained valuable experience at 1. FC Nürnberg. The extension of the loan is the right step for his development. We’re convinced he’ll get the necessary playing time at Nürnberg, and we’re looking forward to follow his progress closely.”
At the Campus since 2023
Fernández moved to the FC Bayern Campus from Atlético Madrid’s academy in January 2023, playing for the U17s and U19s before stepping up to the reserves in January 2024. After lengthy spells on the sidelines with injury, he made his return for the reserves in December. He has also featured in three friendlies for the first team.
