Audi Summer Tour underway - Hainer: It's all outstanding

On the evening of the first day, just a few hours after arriving on Jeju Island, president Herbert Hainer, vice-president Prof. Dr Dieter Mayer, board member for sport Max Eberl, marketing and sales director Rouven Kasper and sporting director Christoph Freund warmly welcomed the journalists travelling with them on the Audi Summer Tour. On the terrace of the team hotel, with a superb view of the Pacific Ocean, the FC Bayern officials took questions from the media.

Hainer praised the setup and location. “I absolutely love coming to South Korea because life here is so vibrant. The people are incredibly hard-working and forward-looking. Everything I’ve seen so far has been outstanding,” said the FC Bayern president. Hainer had also already spoken to Vincent Kompany after the team’s first training session: “Vinnie says the conditions at the training ground are brilliant. So far, all I can say is: what we’ve seen so far is top-notch, I hope it continues like this!”

Kasper explained why Jeju is the first stop before Hong Kong this summer: “Seoul is the usual destination; we did that extremely successfully and well in 2024,” said the marketing and sales director: “Now it’s time to break new ground.” On the one hand, FC Bayern wanted to further strengthen its ties with fans in South Korea, while at the same time taking advantage of the visa-free arrangements for tourists and football fans from China and Japan. “And last but not least, we do have a Red&Gold partner club in the local side, Jeju SK.” FC Bayern play a friendly against the South Korean top-flight side on Tuesday evening; the 2002 World Cup stadium is already almost sold out. FC Bayern TV PLUS will broadcast the match live.

Eberl and Laimer sturned to football matters. “We want to get into a rhythm. Young talents should have the chance to show what they can do, Bayern should be well represented, and we should all prepare as best we can for the long months ahead,” said board member for sport Eberl. Laimer added: “It’s great that we’re back in action. We made good use of the break, went on holiday with family and friends, and were able to switch off a bit. Now it’s really fun to be back on the pitch with the lads.” The team was particularly impressed by the fans’ raucous welcome at the airport: “It’s always special in Asia, and today was no exception. Now let’s have a good week!”
