Social media, website & app – record-breaking digital season for FC Bayern
The 2025/26 season ended on a high note for FC Bayern, with the club winning the double in both the men’s and women’s competitions, and the men’s team scoring more goals in a single Bundesliga campaign than ever before. And now it's official: numerous records were also broken in the digital sphere.
The club’s social media channels recorded over 1.1 billion interactions and 15 billion video views, whilst the community grew by around ten per cent to more than 220 million followers across all platforms. Instagram, TikTok and Facebook were the main drivers of this growth.
Club’s strongest-ever month on social media
In international benchmarking, this moved FC Bayern up from 8th to 5th place – placing them ahead of, amongst others, the two Champions League finalists, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal. April proved to be the strongest month on social media in the club's history, with the semi-final second leg against Real Madrid (a 4–3 home win) setting an all-time record for a single day.

FC Bayern’s owned media channels (website and app) also also saw significant growth: visits rose by 17 per cent in the 2025/26 season compared with the previous one. On the day of the return leg against Real Madrid, the website and app together recorded over one million visits, with the live text and live web radio (around 50,000 users streaming) proving to be key drivers of this performance.
At the same time, the club’s video platform is also growing: the number of FC Bayern TV PLUS subscribers rose by 39 per cent last season – driven by exclusive live content such as men’s and women’s friendlies during pre-season, competitive matches involving the reserves and the U19s, as well as a wide range of highlights, interviews and repeat broadcasts.
“To offer our fans the best FC Bayern experience”
“Our digital channels have long since become a second stadium for FC Bayern – for millions of fans around the world. The record-breaking figures on our website, app and social media show we are among the global leaders in the digital sphere. This is made possible by strong teamwork and a clear strategy with one goal: to offer our fans the best possible FC Bayern experience across all platforms,” said Stefan Mennerich, director of media, media rights & communications at FC Bayern.
Nikolai Kube, head of club media & content at FC Bayern, added: “Our sporting success and high-profile games that polarise opinion worldwide – such as those against Real Madrid or PSG – are, of course, the driving force behind our excellent performance development. However, it is crucial that our content teams meticulously prepare for precisely these moments in order to further expand our global reach. This also benefits our partners and sponsors.”
