FC Bayern mourns the passing of Peter Hermann, who has lost his long battle with the neurological condition ALS at the age of 74. Hermann was an indispensable member of the coaching staff at the German record champions during their historic first treble victory in 2013, serving as the right-hand man to head coach Jupp Heynckes.

He played under Dettmar Cramer and later used his expertise and his consistently down-to-earth manner to support legendary coaches such as Jupp Heynckes, Dragoslav Stepanovic and Berti Vogts. Football thrives not least on figures like Peter, who don’t always stand in the limelight but nevertheless ensure that everything always runs smoothly. The historic treble of 2013 is also closely associated with his name.”
Hermann stood on the touchline as an assistant coach for various clubs in more than 1,000 matches and left his mark on German football over several decades. He enjoyed his most successful spell at Bayern, where he was initially part of Heynckes’ coaching staff between 2011 and 2013. When Heynckes took charge for a second time in the autumn of 2017, Hermann also returned to Munich. Hermann served as his assistant once again until Heynckes’ departure in the summer of 2018 and then remained part of Niko Kovač’s coaching staff for a further year.
Hermann contributed to a total of three Bundesliga titles, two DFB Cups, one Champions League and two Supercups during his time with Bayern.
