Joshua Kimmich makes 500th competitive appearance for Bayern

It may not have been the longest appearance for Joshua Kimmich in a Bayern shirt, but Sunday’s game away at Elversberg was certainly a special one as he came off the bench in the 65th minute for his 500th competitive outing in Munich red. And with the Germany captain on the pitch, Bayern managed to hit back from an Elversberg equaliser to claim a 2-1 victory.

The 31-year-old is only the 12th player to reach the impressive milestone of 500 games for Germany’s record champions. Kimmich has gone level with legend Bastian Schweinsteiger, who played exactly that amount. Bayern’s current No.6 joined in summer 2016 and has gone on to win 10 Bundesliga titles, four DFB Cups and the 2020 Champions League, scoring 47 times and providing 122 assists across all competitions.
