Together with NFL legend Adam Vinatieri, Giovane Elber made history on the Jungfraujoch. The former Bayern striker held the ball for the highest ever converted field goal in the world.
Record kick at 3,454 metres altitude
On the snowy Jungfraujoch in the Swiss Alps, NFL legend Adam Vinatieri set an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title on Tuesday. At an altitude of 3,454 metres, the four-time Superbowl winner converted a field goal – with Giovane Elber as the holder.
“I have to get this right, I can’t make any mistakes,” said Elber just before the attempt. “This is like a Champions League final. I’ve got butterflies in my stomach.” Vinatieri converted with his first go, sparking great celebrations among the watching Patriots, influencers and media personnel.
“That’s crazy. It’s hard to kick the ball high. You’ve either got it or you haven’t – and Adam Vinatieri certainly has it,” commented Elber after the record-breaking kick.

Elber also scores
After the world record, the former Bayern goal-getter also attempted a field goal himself – and was also successful. In bright sunshine, seven degrees Celsius and surrounded by snow, Elber enjoyed a special day in the Swiss Alps. Following the event, the Brazilian swapped shirts with Vinatieri along with German ex-Patriots player and two-time Superbowl champion Sebastian Vollmer.
“It was an unbelievable experience for me, I found it really great,” said Elber. The world record also marks the start of the countdown to the NFL game between the New England Patriots and the Detroit Lions at Munich’s Allianz Arena on 15 November.
