Bayern will make the short, 180-kilometre trip to Fürth with plenty of confidence. Julian Nagelsmann’s men are in great form right now, particularly when it comes to scoring goals, and returned to the top of the table last weekend. “And we want to stay there,” said the boss in Thursday’s press conference. The 34-year-old is delighted with his team, but also noted that there are still things to improve despite the good results. “We still have a lot of potential and I believe we’ll get even better!”

Greuther Fürth are yet to really get going this season. The promoted side are still waiting for their first win having collected just one point so far. In the DFB Cup, the Cloverleaves were knocked out on penalties in the first round by regional league side Babelsberg. “We’re certainly not going to underestimate anyone,” stressed Nagelsmann ahead of the encounter with the bottom-placed team. “I think Fürth will play a lot of long balls. We need to be ready for a fight and for opponents who will sit deep,” he added.

The team news for Fürth vs. Bayern
There was good news on the personnel front from Thursday’s final training session. “Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala trained again and are in contention. Lucas Hernández was also back in training,” revealed Nagelsmann. Kingsley Coman, who underwent minor heart surgery last Thursday, is running again. “He’s obviously not an option yet, but we’re glad he’s out there again,” said the FCB coach. Sven Ulreich suffered an injury in training during the week and faces a spell on the sidelines, along with Corentin Tolisso. Christian Früchtl will move up to the squad as the back-up goalkeeper.
Aside from long-term absentees Gideon Jung and Jessic Ngankam, Fürth are at full strength.

Julian Nagelsmann: “The heading above our tactics board says ‘our objective is crucial’. We need three points, that’s the only way we’ll get closer to our objective of a tenth successive league title. We’ll get as many points against Fürth as we would in a match against Dortmund. We have nothing to give away.”
