Vincent Kompany was satisfied after Wednesday's friendly away to Rottach-Egern: "In the last few days we put everything we'd planned into practice - we also got an impression of the young players," the Belgian said after the 14-1 victory over the minnows that marked the end of three intense days at Lake Tegernsee.

Many youngsters trained at Lake Tegernsee as a number of pros were still on holiday after the summer tournaments. "Some players are still missing. Hopefully everyone will be fit after a few weeks. It's important that we're fit for the DFB Cup match and the start of the Bundesliga," said Kompany.
Chance for youngsters
The head coach is likely to give young talents a chance in Sunday's game against Düren, which will be a more difficult task than the first friendly against Rottach-Egern. Coach Kristopher Fetz' men were promoted to the Regionalliga in 2023 and finished in tenth place last season.

Germany internationals to return on Monday
It will take some time until the full squad will train. "The Germany internationals and João Palhinha will return at the beginning of next week," sporting director Christoph Freund had said at Lake Tegernsee: "More and more players will resume training now." On Friday Euro participant Konrad Laimer completed performance diagnostics and medical checks to take up pre-season training.
