Coach Vincent Kompany has many players available, even though it’s probably too early for World Cup participants Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano, who have only just returned to Munich.

It remains to be seen whether Ismael Saibari, who like Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry took up team training at the start of the week, will be an option against Leipzig after his muscle injury. “I need to check with the medical department, then we’ll see,” the Moroccan said at Friday’s unveiling.

A familiar face will be in the dugout on Saturday: Leipzig coach Martín Demichelis. The Argentine won the domestic double with FC Bayern four times and was a coach at the FC Bayern Campus from 2019 to 2022. “I lived there for years, as a player and coach. It’s special to return to the Allianz Arena,” Micho said ahead of the special friendly. He played alongside Vincent Kompany for three years at Manchester City. “We had a good relationship. You could tell he was a leader. I’m looking forward to meeting him and standing alongside him on the touchline,” Demichelis added.

Leipzig beat Altglienicke 2-1, FC Ingolstadt 1-0, SC Verl 4-0 and lost 2-0 to Leeds United in their previous friendlies.
