In Tuesday's friendly away to Stuttgarter Kickers, Ivica Olic and Thomas Müller both scored hat-tricks as Bayern stormed to a 10-0 victory. The match, played out to a 10,899 capacity crowd at the GAZi stadium, was dedicated to the memory of Kickers honorary president Axel Dünnwald-Metzler.
Mario Gomez (15) struck the only goal of the first half against the fourth division home side, but the floodgates opened after the interval as Olic opened his scoring account in a red jersey (58, 68, 83), and Müller also bagged three (60, 77, 81). Hamit Altintop (61), Andreas Görlitz (72) and Gomez again (86) rounded off the goal fest.
For the first time in pre-season, Louis van Gaal opted not to field entirely different line-ups either side of half-time. Ten FCB men were missing with injury, including Franck Ribéry, Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk. That meant Philipp Lahm switching to the left, Alexander Baumjohann starting on the right of midfield, and Olic lining up alongside Gomez.
