Bayern ended a three-match barren streak on Saturday with a thoroughly professional display to see off promoted Freiburg. Mindful of a packed programme in the next three weeks, and with a daunting trip to Bordeaux coming up on Wednesday, the Bavarians did no more than was absolutely necessary to seal three crucial points in the south-west of the country.
The 24,000 capacity crowd at the Badenova Stadium saw the visitors assume control midway through the first-half, Thomas Müller ending their three-game goal drought with the opener shortly before the break. Korea Republic star Du-Ri Cha comically put through his own goal to put Bayern two up twenty minutes from time, after which Louis van Gaal’s men cruised to the finish, allowing the home side only a stoppage-time consolation effort from sub Stefan Reisinger.
