Bayern are through to the DFB Cup semi-finals after a rousing last-eight win over courageous second-division Fürth, who even led at the interval but were blown away by the transformed 14-time winners in the second half.
The 53,500 who made their way to the Allianz Arena despite steady snowfall and temperatures unpleasantly below freezing saw Thomas Müller hand reshaped Bayern an early lead, but Christopher Nöthe and Sami Allagui turned the game on its head before half-time.
Doubtless with a few choice words from the coach ringing in their ears, Munich tore into their opponents after the restart, and goals from Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Philipp Lahm in a seven-minute bombardment either around the hour mark settled the issue. Müller completed his brace and Allagui put through his own goal in the closing minutes to round off a fine evening’s cup entertainment.
