Bayern are well set for the second half of the Bundesliga season. A week before their return to domestic action in Wolfsburg, the Reds achieved a comfortable 4-0 victory over Qatari first division outfit Al Wakrah in a match notable for the return from injury of Arjen Robben and the debut of new arrival Luis Gustavo. Louis van Gaal’s men demonstrated that they were in fine form and could have won with by an even greater margin had they been less profligate in front of goal.
Rounding off the training camp in the Qatari capital Doha, Thomas Müller (57th minute), Bastian Schweinsteiger (67), Daniel van Buyten (72) and Hamit Altintop (89) scored Bayern’s goals on Saturday evening. Following his long enforced break through injury, Robben took part in his first match since the World Cup final in early July, while Holger Badstuber was also making a comeback. Transfer window signing Gustavo was appearing in a Bayern shirt for the first time since his arrival from Hoffenheim.
