The second edition of the Paulaner Cup des Südens was another thrilling festival evening, with 15 goals, 28 dreams-come-true and an ecstatic crowd. The 12,200 spectators at Audi Sportpark in Ingolstadt saw Bayern play a purely amateur team put together by club Partner Paulaner, the pros strolling to a 15-0 victory with goals from Mario Gomez (5), Thomas Müller (3), Xherdan Shaqiri (2), Toni Kroos (2), Mario Mandzukic, Philipp Lahm and Franck Ribéry.
“It was a good training session for us, and for the lads on the other team, it was a massive experience,“ summarised Jupp Heynckes. The coach was pleased with his players’ commitment, approach and flair. “I don’t like showboating, and my team weren’t guilty of it either, although tomorrow’s game in Kaiserslautern will be a completely different test,“ he said.
