Thursday evening’s hastily-arranged friendly away to local side SC Fürstenfeldbruck brought seven goals and valuable match practice for an FCB side featuring a mix of pros and a clutch of junior hopefuls. The goals in the clear-cut victory over the Bavarian league outfit were scored by Claudio Pizarro and youngsters Alexander Sieghart (2), Toni Vastic (2) and Pascal Reinhardt (2).
Jupp Heynckes took the initiative and organised the friendly to provide competitive playing time for players who, due to injury or despite the current rotation policy, have featured little or not at all for the seniors this term. Eight members of the first-team squad took to the field, namely David Alaba, Rafinha, Diego Contento, Claudio Pizarro, Tom Starke, Emre Can, Mitchell Weiser and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, who captained the FCB XI on the night.
