There was a non-stop party for the 11,000 inhabitants of Lower Bavarian town Regen on Sunday evening, when local club TSV Regen marked their 125th anniversary with a visit from Bayern, currently the best club side in the world. The treble winners from state capital Munich ultimately prevailed 9-1 after 90 entertaining minutes, although the result was never going to cast a damper on the celebrations.
A day after the 15-1 rout of a side representing Wildenau Fan Club in the annual Dream Game, Bayern boss Pep Guardiola made four changes to his first-half formation. Regen’s Daniel Kopp defied the odds to hand his side a sixth-minute lead with the minnows’ first chance, but Thomas Müller (32) and Patrick Weihrauch (35, 36) made it 3-1 to FCB before the break. In the second half, Julian Green netted a hat-trick (47, 60, 81), with Emre Can (63), Alessandro Schöpf (75) and Toni Kroos (84) competing the ultimately routine victory.
