Bayern made it five wins in five pre-season friendlies on Saturday evening with a comfortable 6-0 victory away to fourth-tier SG Sonnenhof Großaspach. The 10,000 crowd, filling the comtech Arena near Stuttgart to its capacity for the first time since it opened two years ago, saw a Bayern side full of running and energy despite only returning from the Trentino training camp a day earlier. Xherdan Shaqiri scored the first two goals prior to the half-hour mark, with Toni Kroos and Arjen Robben making it 4-0 before half-time. After the break, David Alaba and Julian Green brought up the half-dozen and rounded off the scoring.
Coach Pep Guardiola again sent out his team in a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Kroos as the solitary holding midfielder. Shaqiri and Robben started out wide, with Franck Ribéry and youngster Patrick Weihrauch as inside forwards, and Mario Mandzukic as the lone striker.
Brace for Shaqiri
The treble winners combined accurately at times, but unsurprisingly at this stage of pre-season, some passes went astray. With Guardiola frequently gesticulating from the touchline, Robben and Shaqiri (twice) fashioned early chances in the first quarter of an hour.
