On-fire Reds down Rottach-Egern

FC Bayern rounded off their training camp with a goal fest, beating minnows FC Rottach-Egern 20-2 on Wednesday evening. The German record champions started with Sven Ulreich in goal and Rafinha, Niklas Süle, Lars Lukas Mai and David Alaba in a back four. Javi Martínez anchored a midfield featuring Arjen Robben, Leon Goretzka, Thiago and Kingsley Coman, with Robert Lewandowski as lone striker.

Barely forty seconds had been played when Coman put his side in front following a mix-up in the box. 70 seconds and one attack later, Thiago doubled the lead from 18 yards. Lewandowski's perceptive pass soon invited Coman to put another one past netminder Domingo Grafunder. The Frenchman went on to round off his hat-trick, excelling with a fine first touch before blasting into the far corner of the net. Lewandowski netted from point-blank range before the hosts scored twice. Dominik Pfluger netted via the inside of the post before André Schmidt blasted home from close range, making Wednesday a day the two will never forget. Bayern upped the pressure again, Lewandowski adding another two to make it 7-2 before half-time.

Goals galore

Niko Kovac comprehensively shuffled his deck at half-time. The Bavarians picked up where they left off in the first half, dominating proceedings and making their dominance count. Joshua Kimmich, Sebastian Rudy and Franck Ribéry all found the net after the interval, Sandro Wagner, Thomas Müller and James scoring twice and Maximilian Franzke bagging a hat-trick to make it 20-2. But the focus was on the fans rather than the scoreline before the first competitive fixture this season. The Bavarians will be back in action on Sunday, when they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Supercup final.
