FC Bayern travelled to face TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday and won 6-0. However, the footballing dimension to the game faded into the background. Due to defamatory banners against Hoffenheim patron Dietmar Hopp displayed in the FC Bayern fan block, play was suspended in the 78th minute. When the teams returned to the pitch, they symbolically passed the ball to each other until the final whistle.
After the game, FC Bayern players and officials joined the Hoffenheim players in a symbolic gesture of solidarity with the Hoffenheim fans.
