Reds held by Ajax

The Audi Football Summit between FC Bayern and Ajax ended in a 2-2 draw. Zakaria Labyad put Ajax in front early in the first half, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scoring an equaliser before half-time. Tanguy Nianzou handed Bayern in the lead after the restart, but Victor Jensen levelled the scores again minutes later. Bayern wore their new home kit with five stars in their first home match in 2021/22.

Bayern's starting XI featured Sven Ulreich, Bouna Sarr, Dayot Upamecano, Josip Stanisic, Omar Richards, Michaël Cuisance, Tanguy Nianzou, Torben Rhein, Joshua Zirkzee, Armindo Sieb and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Early setback

After a minute's silence for the victims of the floods in Germany, the Dutchmen were dominant in the opening stages, Zakaria Labyad handing Ajax an early lead from 12 yards. Ulreich denied Neres and Gravenberch, Richards seeing a shot saved by keeper Pasveer at the other end. Neres fired wide, but Bayern enjoyed a spell in command after the half-hour.

Richards drew two saves from Pasveer, who soon denied Rhein, but Munich levelled when Sarr sidestepped a defender and squared to Choupo-Moting, who tapped in from close range. Sarr rounded Pasveer but Schuurs made a last-ditch tackle to pinch the ball off his toes.

Nianzou and Jensen trade goals

After the restart FCB picked up where they left off, Choupo-Moting seeing an effort blocked an Upamecano hit the bar, but Rhein's pinpoint cross invited Nianzou to head in. Jensen levelled the scores against the run of play when he fired home from 20 yards. Upamecano headed wide before Nagelsmann comprehensively shuffled his deck after the hour mark.

The match ebbed now, Ulreich making strong saves against Berghuis and Tadic, Pasveer beating Wenig to the ball at the other end. Motika saw an effort blocked, and Bayern's second pre-season friendly ended in a draw.

The Reds will be back in action on Wednesday, when they take on Borussia Mönchengladbach.
