FC Bayern beat VfL Bochum 5-0 in the Bundesliga on Sunday afternoon. Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala handed Munich a two-goal lead before half-time, with Harry Kane, Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman netting in the second half.
Bayern started with Manuel Neuer in goal and Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Alphonso Davies in defence. Joshua Kimmich and João Palhinha anchored a midfield featuring Olise, Musiala and Coman, with Kane up front. Leon Goretzka, Sané, Thomas Müller, Mathys Tel and Eric Dier came on for Palhinha, Olise, Musiala, Kane and Kim in the second half.
Olise and Musiala on target
Bayern were in the driving seat from the start, although Bochum were bold in the early exchanges and Munich soon had Kim to thank for keeping the scores level when he cleared a Moritz Broschinski effort off the line. FCB took the lead when Kane was upended near the box and Olise converted the ensuing free-kick from 20 yards.
Erhan Mašović miscued a header at the other end, but Bayern made it two from another free-kick, Kimmich inviting Musiala to head home. Kane and Musiala both fired over before the latter's sideways scissor-kick went wide as the Reds went into the break 2-0 up.
Five-star second half
After the restart, Neuer denied Maximilian Wittek before Coman had a goal chalked off for offside, but Bayern put the game to bed when Musiala's pass found Kane, who rifled into the top corner of the net. Sané added his name to the scoresheet minutes after coming on when he intercepted a pass in Bochum's half and sent a fine curler into the top corner.
The away fans were in for another treat when Coman produced an almost mirror image finish from the left via the underside of the crossbar. Goretzka and Tel saw their efforts cleared as Bayern cruised to victory.
The result means Bayern top the table on 20 points from eight matches, ahead of RB Leipzig on goal difference. The Bavarians will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to face Mainz in the DFB Cup.
